The world shudders under the cold calculation
of those who murder men, women, and children indiscriminately. Over twenty
years ago I wrote The Omega Prophecy which predicted the day of the terrorist.
Although the terrorist we face at present is cut from a different fabric,
the consequences to such a heinous terrorist act are taking place precisely
as predicted within The Omega Prophecy.
Those terrorists who used jet planes as bombs of fuel and blood are cut
from the cloth of a fascist sect of Islam. The Omega Prophecy predicts
the emergence of a terrorist that is completely different than the fascist
terrorist. The fascist terrorist considers all individual life as secondary
to its regime. The Western terrorist is cut from a fabric composed from
the threads of anarchy, godlessness, self-absorption, nihilism, naturalism,
and narcissism.
Unless Western culture returns to its Christian roots, the Western terrorist
awaits for us in our future even should every Islamic fascist be subdued.
We have already witnessed the Western terrorist in schools where the threads
of our postmodern culture are woven together forming youth who kill their
peers indiscriminately then take their own life. Does this sound familiar?
What we see in the wake of September 11th are the foothills of terrorism.
We have yet to see the mountains. In what follows Ill outline The
Omega Prophecy as it was conceived within and written for the post-modern
culture.
What will happen in the new millennium? Opinions vary
from "business as usual" to "the end of the world as we
know it" to "the end of the world period!" My thoughts
about the future began over 20 years ago (see Background). At that time I wasn't thinking about dates,
or computers, or any related "bugs." I was thinking about how
human societies are formed, and what takes them apart. Specifically, I
was thinking about what happens to global human society when the whole
notion of God, or a revealed wisdom from God, are no longer accepted (read
the Preface to understand this better).
Each kind of creature within the animal kingdom organizes its society
on the basis of instinct. Social behavior is predictable and constant
within a given type of animal. When we look at the human race, however,
we see a wide range of differences within social systems. This is because
man is not like the rest of the animal kingdom. He does not have an instinct
which always causes him to make just one type of social order. That's
why we have so many cultures within the world's clans, tribes, and nations.
What is "meat" for one culture is "poison" within
another. Most people walking the streets of Boston would shutter if offered
a piece of human flesh for food from a street vender. Yet tribes around
the world have accepted cannibalism. Some have believe that they can take
their enemies strength by eating their bodies. But why would the Bostonian
react against eating human flesh? Because our culture was originally formed
within a Christian world view. Christian understanding mandates that we
love even our enemy. Christian world view totally rejects cannibalism
and fostered this rejection within the Bostonian. But times are changing.
Western culture is in a post-Christian era. The Christian understanding
for culture is vanishing. Its disappearance is partly because of a growing
lust for pleasure and ease. It's influence upon culture is also fading
because many Christian denominations no longer know how to define society
and its values. The Bible was once thought by most Christians to be the
golden yardstick for determining life and morality. Today the Bible is
viewed by a growing number of theologians as a time-conditioned book.
In effect, to consider the Bible as time-conditioned is the same thing
as to say that we have no God given standard for life and morality. Bottom
line, it is saying that there is no one, single blueprint for society.
If the Bible is not true for all times, than there can be no standard
for establishing morality. Each generation establishes its own "truth,"
which is really social convention, and not truth at all.
Twenty years ago I saw what the loss of a God-given
structure for society would bring about for all humanity. I realized that
it would provide the breeding ground for birthing more and more terrorists
into the global family. I also saw that this would take place at the same
time as nuclear, chemical and bio-tech weapons became more available to
terrorists. After much prayer, and with a reluctant heart, I was inspired
to write The Omega Prophecy. Twenty years later, I have published it for
world-wide debate. All these years have allowed me, and others who saw
it in the first draft, to see that it has not erred within any of its
predictions.
It is a difficult piece to read, both in content and the manner of its
writing (again note Preface and Use of Poetic Imagery and Metaphor). I have included footnotes to the more technical
terms(just click on footnote and a window will open). As you approach
its style, consider that it is not a great deal different than the manner
in which the prophetic books of the Bible are written. If you were to
read Isaiah for the first time, and had no real background in prophetic
imagery and poetry, you would find it difficult to read. The Omega Prophecy
is written like a prophetic book. It differs in style from The Book of
Isaiah chiefly in that its poetic imagery and metaphor have a contemporary
flavor.
Finally, fearing that you may think that I am not mainstream, I have
written other booklets and Bible Studies through Concordia Publishing
house. I have authored or co-authored Pathlight, Faith Alive,
My Christian Faith, Free in Christ Free to Serve, Managing Finances, and
Communication: A Scriptural Foundation for Marriage.
